Ripple Trending among Biden and Trump as Online Interest Grows
Among Twitter’s trending keywords this week in the US (still the largest market for crypto enthusiasts) were the usual suspects of “DiaperDon” (referring to Donald Trump sitting at a small desk whilst scoffing at reporters) and “StopTheSteal” (referring to a conspiracy theory claiming that Joe Biden stole the election) next to the mysterious Utah monolith.
One of the more peculiar topics to be trending in the US was the term Ripple, referring to the third biggest crypto coin and the invention of Ripple Labs, run by CEO Brad Garlinghouse.

Yes, interest in XRP has been surging on social media platforms as of late, making many wonder whether the XRP Army has returned from the deep?

However, upon further checking it seems that the peak in interest on Google Trends (which is as high as it was during the Bitcoin bull run of 2017-2018) should culminate around 12 December, which is the exact date of the upcoming Spark Token Airdrop, and therefore the possibility of making some extra money for those that already on XRP is probably the easiest explanation for the trending figures (along with the recent rise of XRP of course).
Upcoming Flare Network airdrop
Flare Network announced that they will airdrop their SPARK tokens to XRP holders. For every XRP token you hold, you will receive approximately 1 SPARK token. 45 billion SPARK tokens will be airdropped and the snapshot will be taken on the 12th of December at 00:00 GMT.

The distribution of the tokens will occur in Q1 2021. As such, it is assumable that many people are currently buying Mr Garlinghouse’s Ripple coin to get their hands on the free SPARK tokens, because that token’s value is expected to be around $0,01.
On our blog, we explain in detail how to get your part of the XRP airdrop.
Kraken and Coinbase not participating
Unfortunately for Mr Garlinghouse, the biggest US crypto platforms Coinbase and Kraken decided not to participate in the airdrop, leaving the interest for Binance and KuCoin.
Hi Helen,

We currently do not have plans to support this airdrop/fork, you could consider withdrawing your coins to the wallet you control.
Kraken is not obligated to credit airdrops that occurred in the past or that will occur in the future.
Best,
Kraken
Kraken commented on a user request, but Coinbase has refused to comment on the Spark airdrop so far, suggesting that some of its users might not know about it.
