Strategy sends Bitcoin down again

Strategy, the largest corporate Bitcoin whale, announced a plan on Friday to sell off a staggering $5 billion worth of Bitcoin, a move that had an immediate impact on the price of the leading digital currency.
CEO Phong Le outlined the plan to investors during the presentation of the company’s quarterly results; the news was apparently poorly received, as Strategy’s stock price tumbled by around 4% again.

Meanwhile, the price of Bitcoin is trading at $62,900, roughly its lowest level in a month.

Strategy’s share price has fallen by more than 40% since the beginning of the year.
Just as in 2000 (when MicroStrategy’s share price plummeted more than 99% from its peak during the dot-com bubble), the company’s share price appears to be correlated with the price of Bitcoin, which makes sense, of course, when you own so much Bitcoin.
In this manner, Strategy founder Michael Saylor has maneuvered himself into a tight spot. If he wants to raise capital, he has to sell Bitcoins, but doing so automatically drives down his share price.
The problem is that Strategy purchased its Bitcoins at an average price of $75,000, meaning it is facing a huge loss at current prices.
