Contra indicator Jim Cramer plans selling Bitcoin. Start of a new rally?

Last Updated on 7 August 2026 by CryptoTips.eu

Well-known CNBC host Jim Cramer announced his intention to sell his Bitcoin during an interview with IBM CEO Arvind Krishna.

This followed Krishna’s advice to consider the risks associated with quantum technology over the next three to four years.

The size of Cramer’s holdings and whether the sale actually took place have not been confirmed. Current quantum computers are not yet capable of cracking Bitcoin’s cryptography, but the internet reacted immediately, given Cramer’s history with Bitcoin.

Bull

In 2020 and 2021, Jim Cramer was a staunch Bitcoin bull. He bought a significant amount, saw his investment double, and subsequently sold at the end of 2021. Since then, he has completely reversed his stance, predicting on several occasions that Bitcoin would go to zero.

Ironically, almost every prediction he has made since then has coincided with a new Bitcoin bull run.

For this reason, crypto enthusiasts have for some time regarded Jim as the ultimate contrarian indicator: if Jim says Bitcoin is going to perform poorly, that is the time to buy.

At least, that is the verdict of many on social media. We won’t get into whether there is any scientific basis for this, but it has certainly spawned plenty of jokes. For crypto fans, Cramer has become a genuine internet meme. Once again, the internet was quick to react.
