Justin Sun, founder of Tron and CEO Of BitTorrent, reacted harshly after former employees of his released stories describing a toxic work atmosphere in several of his companies. In an open letter (on Medium) which was also shared in long email thread on his Twitter account, Justin claimed that:

There is no merit to the false claims and narratives by Lucasz Juraszek, Richard Hall, and Cong Li.

His reaction marks another chapter in a Tron takeover of BitTorrent, which has been a rocky one to say the least.

9-9-6

The long article (which caused Justin’s reaction) published in The Verge, the American tech magazine, tells of a toxic work environment and of a Chinese uber-millionaire who tried to install Asian work ethics into an American company. The latter idea was clearly not working according to the many unnamed former employees who spilled the beans on what goes on behind the scenes at Tron and BitTorrent.

Of course, one has to remember that the story published is by a US magazine about a Chinese entrepreneur who is under the protection of Alibaba CEO Jack Ma (who is blacklisted by the US Trade Representative for IP infringement) and look at it in this light.

Still, if some of the more entertaining bits would turn out to be true, then Sun indeed tried to turn a San Francisco company into an Asian sweatshop, to the despair of some of his US employees who were used a more laid-back company culture.

Stories about the installment of a 9-9-6 culture (working from 9am to 9pm, six days per week), allegations of “Fake News” and the hilarious re-enactment of a fixed Tesla-lottery among Tron employees make for an entertaining read, but it is of course an open question how much of it is true as all sources are anonymous

Ethereum Plagiarism

What will be more painful for Justin to hear about in the coming days are the (repeated) allegations that he, basically, tried to install a business strategy which was “a copy of Ethereum”.
