SpaceX is a major Bitcoin investor

SpaceX’s upcoming launch on the US stock market is set to be the biggest event of the year for equity markets. Elon Musk’s company is aiming for a valuation of approximately $1.75 trillion, which would immediately surpass the previous record held by Saudi Aramco.

SpaceX’s listing on the Nasdaq exchange is scheduled to begin on June 12 under the ticker symbol SPCX. In the official filing submitted by SpaceX this week for its initial public offering, the fact that the company holds a significant amount of Bitcoin was particularly noteworthy for crypto enthusiasts.

Tesla

It comes as no surprise that Elon Musk is a major cryptocurrency fanatic. The Tesla founder purchased a major amount of Bitcoin via Tesla back in 2021, sending the price of the major cryptocurrency up 15% when the news broke, but sold it off jast as fast.

SpaceX, which is privately held and therefore not required to disclose its financials, apparently purchased $600 million worth of Bitcoin in 2023, at an average price of $35,000.

These digital coins have since doubled in value; and while this does not significantly impact the overall valuation of SpaceX, which is poised to become one of the largest companies in the world should its IPO prove successful, it is nonetheless a promising sign.
