The mystery surrounding the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous inventor of Bitcoin, continues to fascinate crypto fans. A new theory has emerged that suggests Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter and a staunch supporter of Bitcoin, could be the man behind the mystery.
The hypothesis is based on some key events in Bitcoin history and key dates in Dorsey’s life that have a remarkable similarity.

The theory that Jack Dorsey is Satoshi Nakamoto was created by Seán Murray, president of the financial news site deBanked.

Jack Dorsey was:
1 of ~1,300 confirmed cypherpunks in 1996 (his UMR email)
Wore an Adam Back t-shirt in the UMR yearbook
UMR students were called Miners
Was a CompSci & Math major with an interest in crypto
Member of ACM in 1997 to at…
In a series of posts on X, he collected several items linking Jack Dorsey to Bitcoin. The first Bitcoin transaction took place on January 11th, Jack’s mother’s birthday, while the last block ever mined by Satoshi took place on March 5th, 2010, Jack’s father’s birthday.
Additionally, Sean noted that Satoshi registered on the Bitcoin forum on November 19th, which is Jack Dorsey’s own birthday. Quite a lot of coincidences there.
San Francisco
In addition to these date coincidences, Murray provides more technical evidence. He claims that Satoshi used a “brute force” method to create Bitcoin addresses, including one that starts with “jD2m,” which could mean “Jack Dorsey 2 Mint,” referring to Jack Dorsey’s former residence in San Francisco.

Finally, Sean points out that on December 5, 2010, Satoshi advised against making Bitcoin donations to WikiLeaks, just as Twitter (co-founded by Dorsey himself) faced a secret court order on December 14, 2010 to provide information about WikiLeaks.
Dorsey himself has not yet commented on the new theory.
