Farage doesn’t want a ‘Britcoin’ for London, only Tether

Even though Andy Burnham is likely to take over as UK Prime Minister from Keir Starmer after the summer, most political observers still expect Nigel Farage (of Reform) to win the next election. Reform has significant plans regarding cryptocurrency rules for the G7 country.
For instance, a Reform government would cut taxes on crypto income from 24% to 10% and make it much easier to set up new companies dealing with digital currencies.
Furthermore, Farage does not want a ‘Britcoin,’ but rather advocates for the country to use Tether exclusively. Given the name of his most important political donor, that is not too surprising.

Brexit
Crypto-billionaire Christopher Harborne has been arguably the most important donor to Reform in recent years. He personally gave Farage £5 million to facilitate the political comeback of the man who embodies Brexit. He succeeded, and Farage’s latest political party, Reform, is now leading in all political polls.
But Harborne apparently expects something in return for all those financial donations
It emerged this week that Nigel Farage recently held a meeting with Andrew Bailey, the Governor of the Bank of England. The meeting focused on the so-called ‘Britcoin’, a stablecoin pegged to the British pound that the Bank of England plans to launch next year.
Given that Harborne, Nigel’s donor, holds a 12% stake in Tether, he is evidently not keen on the launch of such a ‘Britcoin’. The British press is investigating the matter.
