Bitcoin investor recovers lost crypto wallet password thanks to Anthropic’s AI-bot Claude

It will probably be a while before AI replaces all our office jobs, so it’s good that a Bitcoin investor found a new use case for Anthropic’s AI bot earlier this week. As he was ‘stoned’ when he changed his crypto password a few years ago and couldn’t remember it, he used Claude, Anthropic’s AI bot, to get the job done.

11 years ago, an American Twitter user bought 10 Bitcoins worth $245 each. He left them untouched until the end of 2020, and then sold half after Bitcoin hit a value of $30,000 for the first time. An incredible profit, of course.

Marijuana

He left the rest of the Bitcoins untouched, and to celebrate his profit, the unknown man bought himself a large bag of marijuana. In a stoned mood, he then changed his password and suddenly forgot what it was the next day.

Fortunately, since this year he can call for the help of AI, and specifically Claude, the super-smart AI bot from Anthropic.

The man loaded all his old data and interests into Claude and asked it to calculate and use every possible password. After 1.3 billion password combinations, Claude managed to crack the code, and this week the man was able to regain possession of the remaining 5 Bitcoins, this time valued at around $80,000 each. A real use case for AI I guess.

The incredible story on X (formerly Twitter) has meanwhile already been viewed more than 17 million times.
