Bitcoin barely reacts to Trump assassination attempt, that was very different last time

Saturday, April 25, 2026 will undoubtedly make it into the American history books. Donald Trump survived yet another assassination attempt. Bitcoin barely reacted to the news, which is striking considering the same news item caused a rally in 2024.

Hilton

On Saturday, the American president organized a gala evening for investors of his own Trump memecoin. It took place in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, and was attended by Mike Tyson and various CEOs of crypto companies. The American president defended his crypto policy and said that banks will have to accept the digital currency industry in the future.

Afterwards, he traveled quickly to the capital.

There, during the ‘correspondents’ dinner’ at the Hilton hotel in Washington DC, Cole Tomas Allen, a teacher from California, attempted to assassinate the American president.

Bitcoin, one of the only investments that trades 24 hours a day and thus shows how the markets will react, barely rose on the news. That is remarkable because when Trump also survived a first assassination attempt in the summer of 2024, that was the start of a four-month rally.

That took us all the way to the level of $100,000 for the first time, and a year later we reached an ATH of $126,000.
