April will probably become Bitcoin’s best month in a year’s time

May is on its way, so we better take a quick look at how Bitcoin performed this month of April. With a gain of 13% so far, it looks like the largest digital currency is going to post its best monthly result in a year.

2025-2026

Last year, we experienced a very good first month because crypto investors were hopeful about Trump’s second term. The Republican president had made quite a few promises that were expected to turn out positively for the crypto market, but when these were not realized in February, we saw a sell-off. This was followed by March with a small correction due to the American global import tariffs, and a recovery in April as Trump changed his mind again.

The summer of 2025 was fairly unremarkable for Bitcoin, and we experienced three months of slight gains before going down again briefly in August.

In September, the market was hopeful once again, after which we set a new ATH in early October 2025. A selloff followed as Trump again threatened import tariffs against China. Bitcoin continued to fall while markets recovered, and we realized in November that we were facing the start of a new ‘crypto winter’.

That lasted until March of this year (and came with a drop of about 50% since the peak), after which we finally saw the turnaround in April.

If we see confirmation in the technical picture next month (in other words, a rise in the month of May as well), then we can say that ‘crypto winter’ is officially over.
