XRP traders average 41% in the red: lowest level since the FTX crash

Last Updated on 7 April 2026 by CryptoTips.eu

The average XRP holder on the XRP Ledger is not in a comfortable position right now. Wallets that have been active over the past year are down an average of 41% on their investment. That is the lowest MVRV (Mean Value to Realized Value) level for XRP traders since the FTX collapse in November 2022. The XRP price sits at $1.31 today, a drop of 2.29% in 24 hours and 1.09% over the past seven days.

Deepest pain since the FTX crash

The 365-day MVRV ratio for XRP currently stands at minus 41%, meaning the average active holder from the past year is sitting on a significant loss. For context, the last time this level was this low was December 2022, right after the FTX collapse. In the 4.5 months that followed that low, the XRP price climbed 63%. That does not automatically mean history repeats, but it does illustrate just how extreme the current situation is from a historical perspective.

Negative trader returns as a buy signal?

What makes the MVRV data particularly compelling is that it does not just reflect a price drop, but the actual returns of active traders. Because cryptocurrency trading is essentially a zero-sum game, an average loss of 41% implies that competing traders are already deep in losing territory. Historically, this kind of extreme negative reading tends to coincide with lower risk for new buyers, simply because most of the selling pressure has already played out.

XRP’s market cap currently stands at $80.3 billion, with a daily trading volume of $1.72 billion. Anyone considering building or adding to their XRP position faces relatively little competition from profitable sellers based on current data.
