Why Winter Covid-19 Wave In The US Could Bring $100k Bitcoin
It is a sad day when you can (probably) predict crypto prices in correlation with the next wave of COVID hitting mainland USA, but that is the point where this pandemic has brought us I’m afraid. As US media is starting to notice Western Europe being in the grip of another Covid-19 wave, specialized journalists have calculated when that wave will hit them from coast to coast again, locking down New York till Los Angeles if hospitalization levels are anywhere near what we’re seeing over here.
Writing in the Guardian on Friday, professor of molecular medicine Eric Topol explained that:
The US thinks it will be ‘immune’ to what is happening in Europe. That’s wishful thinking.
Given that vaccination rates in the US are nowhere near the rates achieved by the EU countries, it is to be expected that a Democratic White House will insist on a lockdown (and will be fought tooth and nail by the Republican led states). If this happens, youngsters will once again be banned from going to restaurants, bars and discotheques, leaving them with Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime and daytrading apps like Robinhood.
Dogecoin on Robinhood
Last winter already, US media admitted that a combination of Covid and Robinhood’s easy app allowed 13 million new traders to the markets. As Robinhood’s winter figures of this year showed, a lot of that cash (stimulus cheques or stimmy) and all went into crypto, as young males sat at home with little else to do but invest.
Even Vanity Fair did a whole piece on how day trading youngsters egged each other on in forums of Reddit to go and buy Doge on Robinhood.
The Democratic White House won’t stop sports games if the next Covid-19 wave in the US, already their fifth, is as bad as over here, but the crowds probably won’t be allowed anymore. For all the above reasons and with the fresh history of winter 2020 in the back of our mind, expect crypto investment and day trading to soar in December 2021 and Bitcoin to go up up up if the US indeed gets hit with a Covid-19 wave.
As Metallica already admitted, this is sad but true.
