When can we call the Bitcoin bottom this time round?

Last Updated on 10 February 2026 by CryptoTips.eu

While gold continued to hover around the $5,000 mark (for an ounce) on Monday, Bitcoin fell back below $70,000, seeking support. While classic financial media believe 0 is the bottom for the largest digital currency, crypto analysts are slightly more positive. When can we call a bottom for Bitcoin in 2026?

Bear market

We’ve now accepted that Bitcoin, after experiencing similar situations in 2018 and 2022, is once again in a bear market. This is painful for those who got in too late and offers opportunities for those who can identify the bottom.

For reference, the most obvious stock market bottom was called by Barack Obama, former President of the United States, when he said in early March 2009 that stocks looked good for investors in the long run. Three days later, the 2007-2009 financial crisis reached its nadir.

For Bitcoin, the most prominent bottom caller in recent years was Edward Snowden, the former American NSA analyst now living in Russia. In March 2020, after Bitcoin had dropped to $4,000, he said it seemed like a good opportunity. Since then, Bitcoin has risen to $100,000 in five years.

Implosion

This time, we’ll first look at the past and how far Bitcoin fell back then. In 2011, it dropped 93% from its peak, in 2015 it fell 86%, in 2018 (the ICO bubble) 84%, and in 2022 (the FTX implosion) 77%. This also means the drop is getting smaller each time.

If we follow that logic, you can assume the bottom this time should be around $38,000.

Painful, but very interesting for long-term investors if true.
