The Miami Bitcoin conference of last week was quite successful. Most crypto enthusiasts agreed that attendance was very high on all days and that the whole town was talking about nothing but Bitcoin.

However, some of the more than 10,000 attendees who gathered for what was one of the biggest public events in post-Corona times have started testing positive for Covid.

Cryptowhale, a bearish investor who’s betting on a Bitcoin crash, commented:

The Bitcoin 2021 conference in Miami was the first major in-person conference since the pandemic started. It may have been a “super spreading event” as dozens of participants reveal they’ve tested positive for COVID-19.

Recommendations of the state of Florida

Miami mayor Francis Suarez, a keen Bitcoin fan, has failed to respond to US media demands for comment. The Bitcoin 2021 Conference organizers explained how all attendees had been given:

The current recommendations of the CDC and State of Florida. Those who were high risk or hadn’t been vaccinated should consider waiting until next year.

To the Mana Wynwood convention center in Miami’s arts and entertainment district saw thousands of crypto enthusiasts talking and discussing Bitcoin for over three days, most of them maskless. Since a few days though, some of the attendees admitted catching Covid at the event.

Florida reported an average of eight new cases per 100,000 residents over the past week, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

Let’s hope the Bitcoin conference doesn’t cause a spike in cases.
