Meanwhile, as fall beckons and people return to offices and kids return to school, it’s probably a good time to make an overview of where we stand in the world of crypto. With Bitcoin nearing $50,000 again and other currencies also seeing renewed optimism, it is probably a fair question to ask whether or not global adoption of cryptocurrencies is near or not.
Starbucks, Tesla and Microsoft
Our colleagues over at Euronews (the media outlet of the European Commission) probably thought the same thing and thus made a lengthy overview of all companies that now accept crypto payments, whether direct or indirect.
The list is long and varied and contains companies that you probably didn’t know allowed crypto payments.

Starbucks, the global coffee behemoth (although some Europeans will argue whether that brew can really be called coffee) can take your crypto via the Bakkt app. The App’s creators claim that half a million people have in this manner already paid for their coffee and other goods with converted Bitcoin.
Tesla announced earlier this year via its CEO Elon Musk that it would allow Bitcoin as payment for its electrical car. At the time it gave a big boost to the price point of the world’s biggest crypto.
Crypto company Bitrefill allows you to buy Amazon vouchers which can be used to purchase goods on the e-commerce platform of founder Jeff Bezos.
Lastly, Microsoft now also accepts Bitcoin payments, which can be used to pay for Xbox Live and Skype for instance.
Other notable companies on the list include Apple’s App store, AXA insurance, Coca-Cola, Air Baltic, Visa and of course PayPal.
Global adoption indeed seems not too far off in the future anymore.
