Saylor buys even more Bitcoin, Strategy now owns 3.4% of all Bitcoins in circulation

Michael Saylor isn’t letting this Bitcoin bear market faze him. Whether Bitcoin falls further or not, he’s not changing tack. With his company Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) he bought Bitcoins again, this time for approximately $168.4 million, at an average price of $67,700 per Bitcoin. Strategy now owns 3.4% of all Bitcoins in circulation.

Hero

Until recently, Michael Saylor was the crypto world’s biggest hero. Starting in 2020, he had transformed his small software company, MicroStrategy (now Strategy), into the world’s biggest Bitcoin Whale. Because his plan worked so well in 2020 and 2021, he began borrowing more and more money to finance his Bitcoin buying strategy.

That also worked very well in 2023, 2024, and during the most part of 2025. But now that the market thinks we’ve seen the peak, Strategy stock is increasingly in trouble.

Spring

And yet. While everyone agrees we’re back in the dreaded “crypto winter,” Michael Saylor is convinced that a “crypto spring” is coming. In that case, this would have been a very short winter.

Bitcoin has already dropped by around 23% in 2026, meaning the average purchase price of Saylor’s Bitcoins is now deeply in the red. The company has paid about $76,000 per coin for its 717,000 Bitcoins.

Still, he’s not really bothered by it, as Saylor claimed during an interview on Fox Business News this week. Strategy could handle a drop of up to $8,000 per Bitcoin without any problem, he stated.
