New hack for Trump’s crypto project

Last Updated on 6 September 2024 by CryptoTips.eu

Trump’s latest crypto project, called World Liberty Financial, has once again run into a problem. This time, the social media accounts of his daughter and daughter-in-law were hacked and fake posts appeared which promised digital coins from the project to anyone eager to buy.

It is unclear how much money hackers were able to steal this time. This is already the second scandal involving the newest crypto project of Donald Trump and his family in less than a week.

Telegram

After Trump’s latest crypto project (called World Liberty Financial) was announced last week, hundreds of thousands of the former president’s supporters quickly surfed to the new currency’s Telegram channel.

There, hackers had already rented a banner from Telegram that, if you clicked on it, would direct interested parties to a fake URL where they could exchange their money for the new crypto currency (which is still not officially open for trading). Some 70,000 Trump supporters clicked on the banner according to the latest data. It’s unclear how much hackers took in that scam.

This week, the social media accounts of Trump’s daughter, Tiffany, and his daughter-in-law, Lara, were hacked on X (formerly Twitter). A few moments later, posts appeared on their channels promising that you could purchase coins from World Liberty Financial if you wanted.

An official account for World Liberty Financial confirmed the hack in a separate post on X and stated: “ALERT: Lara’s and Tiffany Trump’s X accounts have been hacked. Do NOT click on any links or purchase any tokens shared from their profiles. We’re actively working to fix this, but please stay vigilant and avoid scams!”

So it is already the second hack of the Trump crypto project in a week. All this while the coin has not yet been officially launched. Earlier this summer we warned about the large number of scams involving Trump memecoins we expected.
