New Bitcoin ATH

Last Updated on 22 May 2025 by CryptoTips.eu

Bitcoin broke through its ATH yesterday (as predicted a week ago) and seems ready to jump all the way to $120,000 as from now. The golden cross on the technical picture seems to be a matter of days. At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading for $111,700.

Ever since the announcement of the Bitcoin ETFs in 2023, the largest digital currency has already yielded a 400% profit. A quick overview.

Bitcoin in the last five years

In early 2020, Bitcoin fell from a value of $8,000 to a low of $4,000 on the day that it became clear that Covid-19 would also spread in Europe.

Later that year, when everyone was stuck at home due to the Covid-19 lockdowns and it became incredibly easy to buy crypto with your US stimulus check, Bitcoin’s value rose again to $20,000.

In 2021, Bitcoin rose to $50,000, partly due to the IPO of Coinbase and the support of Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

In 2022, the crypto market was plagued by scandals and bankruptcies, such as that of FTX and Terraform Labs, and Bitcoin fell again, to a low of $16,000 in November of that year.

BlackRock

In 2023, a comeback slowly started, which resulted in an announcement by fund manager BlackRock that it would introduce a Bitcoin ETF.

In March of 2024, we set a new record, with a price of $74,000. Later that year, Donald Trump won the American presidential election and Bitcoin quickly rose above $100,000.

Now the record is being increased again and it is unclear where this will end. Several analysts on Wall Street expect a price above $150,000 before the end of the year.
