Bob Dylan once said steal a little and they throw you in jail, steal a lot and they make you king. Translated to the 21st century and the cryptosphere that becomes: hack a blockchain and steal several millions and it’s called a crime, hack all the Twitter accounts of various celebrities and ask for Bitcoin payment and achieve world fame.

Yes, the Bitcoin Twitter hack, the most audacious crime of 2020 performed by a teen (Graham Ivan Clark was 17 at the time) has had its day in court. The young hacker who took over the accounts of multiple celebrities and sent out the following message:

All bitcoin sent to our address below will be sent back to you doubled!

Bill Gates and Kim Kardashian

The fact that he had been able to pose as Joe Biden (now US president), Bill Gates, Kim Kardashian and many more made sure the man was the most sought after name for a few days during the summer of last year.

Clark, and the two other young hackers who helped him, only made off with $100,000 in Bitcoin through the epic stunt, but it landed them world fame.

Graham Clark needs to be held accountable for that crime, and other potential scammers out there need to see the consequences.

Andrew Warren, the Hillsborough state attorney who prosecuted the young hacker, declared.

In this case, we’ve been able to deliver those consequences while recognizing that our goal with any child, whenever possible, is to have them learn their lesson without destroying their future.

Although the youngster is now jailed, Hollywood is keen to work with him and turn his story into a book and a film already.

Alec Muffet correctly commented on Twitter:

Within 20 years Graham Ivan Clark is a CISO or CEO of an infosec startup, and presenting at defcon or equivalent?

I believe we all know how Zuckerberg started.
