Is “The Crypto Cruise Ship” Satoshi A Good Or Bad Idea?

As I watched the newly released “totally under control’ documentary over the weekend (which highlighted the botched Covid-19 response the US political leadership put in place), I was reminded of the cruise ships debacles back in February and March.
Back then, as the “Diamond Princess” cruise ship anchored in Japan, it was for a while the hotspot of the global pandemic, with some 700 infections. By now, that number would be considered a good day for any major European nation, or even the US for that matter.

Hence, it is with some disbelief that I read last week the plan of a corporation named Ocean Builders who have taken it upon themselves to combine crypto with cruise ships. It is true that seniors, the main passengers of cruises, with lots of cash to spend are a good public to introduce crypto to and a very untapped market at this point, but the timing may be a bit off in the midst of a pandemic.
Permanent home at sea
The cruise ship is of course carrying the name of the anonymous inventor of Bitcoin, the famed Satoshi Nakamoto.
Chad Elwartowski, an American software engineer who is also an enthusiastic Bitcoin trader is the COO and largest investor in the franchise. He dreams of a permanent home at sea, without restrictions from any government (just like Carl Sagan in Contact, but that’s another story).

First voyage is planned for 2021 and goes from the Mediterranean to Panama. Elwartowski said:
We look forward to creating a hub for technology and innovation here in Panama. Our goal is to figure out how to live sustainably on the sea and chart new waters in this new frontier.
The marketing package reads:
A Residential Cruise Ship Launching January 2021 with an eye on Sustainable Tech. The MS Satoshi will be a gathering place for digital nomads, cryptocurrency enthusiasts, expats, researchers, and entrepreneurs. The ship will be anchored 30 minutes from International hub, Panama City in the calm waters of the Gulf of Panama.
A noble idea, just not 100% sure whether this is a good or a bad idea.
