Donald Trump: “if you’re in favor of crypto, you better vote for Trump”

Last Updated on 10 May 2024 by CryptoTips.eu

As Bitcoin struggles with the symbolic $60k mark again, Donald Trump praises crypto companies in the United States. As Trump desperately needs the youth vote, this is not really a surprising. However, it is true that Trump has been pro-crypto for several years now, while Biden’s team appears to be against it.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading for $62,900.

Court case

Former US President Donald Trump was given a day off by the judge in New York. He was allowed to take a break from his trial against adult movie star ‘Stormy Daniels’ (which will probably last several more weeks) and thus returned to his villa complex in Florida, called Mar-a-Lago. There he gave a press conference where, among other things, crypto was on the agenda.

As a European I don’t think highly of Trump, but after four years of Biden even I have to admit that the former Republican president has been more in touch with crypto fans than the Democrats have.

Gary Gensler, chairman of the US SEC is very much set against crypto, Janet Yellen, the US Secretary of the Treasury is a known Bitcoin basher, and Elizabeth Warren (the US Senator from Massachusetts) actually wants to ban it completely.

NFT

Trump, on the other hand, has sold NFTs over the past four years and made millions from it. His ‘superhero’ collection in particular did very well, as even the more liberal part of the American media had to admit yesterday.

As a shrewd businessman, he of course knows that he has to win over the young people, among whom crypto is very popular, in order to be victorious in the election in November and so his statements and answers are in that order; however you cannot deny that the Republican positions have been pro-crypto for several years.

Asked about his opinion on Bitcoin and crypto regulation in the United States, Trump said at that press conference:

“I’m good with it…if you like crypto in any form, and it comes in a lot of different forms…if you’re in favor of crypto, you better vote for Trump.”
