Dogecoin Soars 23%, Paraguay Into Bitcoin And Bitcoin Enters New York Mayoral Race

Dogecoin, which earlier this week had fallen to the 17 cents level, soared back up to 28 cents after massive interest from social media. Fans of the Shiba Inu memecoin made the term PaymeinDogecoin trending with more than 30,000 mentions in the US alone.

Over in South America, Paraguay has shown interest to copy El Salvador’s move and introduced a bill to make Bitcoin legal tender. As we already mentioned, other countries in South America would like to see if there is an interest from their population as well.

New York To Become Center Of Bitcoins

Although the cryptosphere had clearly hoped that crypto enthusiast Andrew Yang would triumph in the New York mayoral race, he has since dropped out.

Seeing how Yang had picked up some 10% of the (mostly millenial) vote though, frontrunner Eric Adams has now vowed that if he wins the seat of mayor of New York, the biggest city in the US would become the next center of Bitcoins.

Not wanting to be outdone by Miami who have gone full crypto in the past year (they recently organised a Bitcoin conference which proved to be a Covid superspreader event), New Yorkers would under his leadership:

Going to see a different city. We’re going to become the center of life science, the center of cybersecurity, the center of self driving cars, drones, the center of bitcoins.
