Bitcoin ends first quarter (probably) with a loss

Last Updated on 27 March 2025 by CryptoTips.eu

The first three months of 2025 will likely end in losses for Bitcoin. Never say never of course (an incredible bull run in these last few days of the month are always possible) but it looks like the largest digital currency will end up with a rather bad first quarter for the first time in three years.

That is a bad omen because the last time this happened was in the disastrous year of 2022.

Quarter

It’s been a few years, but it is indeed possible that Bitcoin ends up losing in the first three months of the year. That will probably be the case this time. At the time of writing, Bitcoin lost 35% during that period.

In 2023, Bitcoin gained 60% between January and March, in 2024 by 50%. In 2022, on the other hand, we recorded a loss of 10%.

Historically, it is mainly the first and fourth quarters that are good for Bitcoin. In that area, Bitcoin is therefore increasingly trading in correlation with the stock exchanges, which also historically usually do well from October to May (so mainly during the first and last quarters of the year).

Hayes

Of course, this time you could state that the price at which we started was exceptional as crypto got an incredible boost after Donald Trump’s victory in November 2024. As a result, the entire crypto market rose and we saw a new ATH of $109,000 on December 17, 2024.

Since then, there has been profit taking and because President Trump has not yet fulfilled many of his crypto promises, we have dropped to a level between $80,000 and $90,000.

Fortunately, there are optimists like Arthur Hayes who still see things turning positive during the coming weeks and months and predict a new, even higher ATH.
