There is a scene in the 2015 movie Steve Jobs where then Apple CEO Stve Jobs speaks to the previous CEO of the company. It is a tense discussion between Jobs, played by Michael Fassbender, and Sculley, played by Jeff Daniels.

The script, written by Aaron Sorkin, mentions at that point the immense respect that Jobs had for his co-founder, the lovable tech-nerd Steve Wozniak. He states in anger:

Don’t send Woz out to slap me around in the press. Anyone but him.

The respect that Wozniak still commands in Silicon Valley for whatever word comes from his mouth is phenomenal. Whenever Apple launches a new version of the iPhone, Steve Wozniak’s review of the product is highly influential on sales. He can break or boost the product easily.

As such, it will be interesting to see how successful the launch of his own cryptocoin will be, a project that aims to transform the energy efficiency market.

Steve Wozniak’s new Malta-based blockchain company Efforce is rolling out its WOZX coin which will be eligible for trading on several crypto platforms in the coming weeks. Currently it will be listed on HBTC and Bithumb.

The project’s website states:

The platform brings together those who want to improve the energy efficiency of their buildings or industrial processes with a pool of contributors interested in being repaid in tokens representing the energy savings achieved thanks to efficiency improvement projects.

In other words, Wozniak aims to let anyone participate in green technology through cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. An admirable aim which will show us in the next few weeks whether green ideas and crypto can mix. And of course, whether Wozniak commands the same respect from the crypto world as he does from Silicon Valley.
