On February 1, 2026, Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old woman and mother of three, including the popular TV host Savannah Guthrie, was reported missing from her home in Catalina Foothills, Arizona. Evidence found in the residence immediately indicated she had been taken against her will, and the Pima County sheriff declared a few hours later that she had been kidnapped.
Ever since then, the entire country has been following the case closely, and as the kidnappers want the ransom deposited into a specific crypto account, the entire American viewing public is learning something new every day about Bitcoin and digital payments. Is it traceable, is there activity on the account, is it anonymous or not?
For days now, CBS has been teaching all its viewers and readers about the traceability of crypto payments while TMZ is closely monitoring any activity on the Bitcoin account where the money is supposed to be deposited.
According to the New York Post, who also tracks that blockchain, the kidnapper has already received $152 in that account, which is still a long way from the original $6 million he demanded.
